BONEFISH - Recommended Tackle

Rod : 7 to 9 Wt.
Reel : Saltwater reel holding at least 150 yards of 20 lb. backing
Fly Line : WF floating
Leader : 9-14 feet depending upon the fishing situation
Tippet : 2X - 0X (there probably are advantages to using fluorocarbon)
Flies : #10 to #6

PERMIT - Recommended Tackle

Rod : 9 or 10 Wt.
Reel : Saltwater reel holding a minimum of 200 yards of 20 lb. backing
Fly Line : WF Floating (some anglers prefer a slow sinking line but this makes it more difficult to recast)
Leader : 9 - 12 feet
Tippet : 1X - 0X
Flies : #4 to 1/0

TARPON - Recommended Tackle

Rod : 11 or 12 Wt.
Reel : Saltwater reel holding a minimum of 200 yards of 30 lb. backing
Fly Line : Intermediate or faster sinking line or sink tip
Leader : 4 - 6 ft. butt section, 16 lb. - 20 lb. class tippet, 60 - 100 lb. shock tippet
Flies : Size 3/0 to 4/0

BARRACUDA - Recommended Tackle

Rod : 8 to 10 Wt.
Reel : Saltwater reel holding a minimum of 200 yards of 20 lb. backing
Fly Line : WF floating
Leader : 20- 30 lb. wire shock tippet (8 to 12 inches in length)
Flies : Size 1/0 to 3/0

Rental Equipment

We have top-quality fly rods/reels (Sage rods and Abel reels) as well as Patagonia Marlwalker and Simms Flats Sneaker wading boots available for rent at the lodge. Rental arrangements should be confirmed prior to leaving as our supply is limited.

Camera, batteries and plenty of film
Snorkeling gear
First aid medications
Prescription medications
Wading Shoes. These need to be firm soled shoes designed for flats wading and impermeable to small, sharp pieces of coral with ankle protection. Light tennis shoes or dive booties will not suffice and are dangerous to wear.
