"Best dive trip ever - Diving was GREAT! Reef were in great shape, very little bleaching and broken coral. We have dived all. over the world and we were pleasantly surprised to have such good diving so close to the USA. We were very fortunate to be the only divers for the first four days and only four divers the last two days. The resort is more known for fly fishing and from all the reports at dinner it is warranted.
Our dive master Denroy was the best ever and boat captain,Irwin, was very observant to help with picking us up and help my wife into the boat when needed.

We can not rate the resort and experience high enough as it was one of our best vacations and we travel a lot. Diving, fishing, food, accommodations and staff were great and attentive."
- Luanne S., June 2016

"I just spent a fantastic week here with a scuba diving group. We have traveled around the world being one with all creatures great and small in the ocean. We collectively enjoy being away from more touristy areas – and we found the perfect place at turneffe flats!
The staff was extremely courteous and accommodating. No problems meeting us at the airport. The food was very well thought through and extremely delicious – especially the desserts! The cabanas were very clean and well-maintained.

I also appreciated how well management treated their employees and made every effort to encourage and complement them. Loved them bringing out all the kitchen and cleaning staff at the end of the week for an introduction and round of applause – which was very well deserved.

Wifi is very spotty so don’t go with the expectation that you’ll download a book or term paper. Just switch off and chill...

Scuba diving staff was very well versed in their sea creature knowledge and made every effort to help us get acclimated quickly. Very respectful of the reefs and all the creatures that live there (seriously, if you dive DON’T TOUCH!). Super friendly and fun too!"
- Anita P, April 2016

"Excellent Resort, great service, excellent fishing and diving in a beautiful location. Staff were very helpful, fishing guides and diving guide very professional. Would highly recommend resort to anyone desiring world class fishing or diving."
- Leland S, April 2016

"Awesome family experience- First class run facility at every level. World class location. World class diving (and by all accounts fishing). Family of five give 10 thumbs up . . . an adventure in every sense. Diving from this location accesses arguable some of the finest diving the Caribbean has to offer."
- Jimmy C., March 2016

"Fabulous! The only tough part is choosing between the fishing, diving, and atoll adventure - all very cool. My "better half" chose fishing and I chose the diving. The first day of diving: eagle rays, turtle, beautiful reef fish large and small, capped off with an amazing long visit with dolphins! Thank you Denroy, dive master!!"
- Anne R., November 2015

"If you are a serious diver this is the place to go- A superb dive resort at a reasonable cost. The dive master was simply excellent. I've been diving in the Caribbean for over 20 years and on this dive trip the dive master pointed out 3 mantis shrimp. It was the first time I ever seen a mantis shrimp."
- Larry H., November 2015

"A diver's delight, truly pampered in paradise! Just returned from a wonderful week of diving at Turneffe Flats. Although this was our first visit, we knew that we had hit on something good as we chatted with other guests on the boat ride out. More than half were repeat customers, some had been coming here for more than 20 years! The diving was fabulous, the reef was vibrant and full of life, and on most dives we were the only boat at the site. There are so many dive choices that weather is not an issue, there is always a leeward side to dive. Annemarie and Denroy were the quintessential team, dive masters at their finest. Not only was every need attended to with setting up tanks and gear, but more importantly was they way they both explored the reef. Their enthusiasm for diving was absolutely contagious, they delighted in finding unique creatures for us both large and small. We knew that we were going to enjoy the diving when we saw that they both carried magnifying glasses! They were patient when we wanted to take photos and helped us find the most interesting subjects. The dive boat was comfortable, and the surface intervals flew by. They also offer various levels of PADI instruction, I completed my Nitrox certification and was in good hands.
The hotel complex itself is an amazing vacation venue! The owners, Craig and Karen, and their entire staff truly care about their guests, every need is attended to almost before anything is said. The villas are wonderfully comfortable and quiet, and the food was superb. Especially enjoyed the "sack lunch" they packed for us every day, my favorite choice was Chef Salad made to order!

We enjoyed our week of being "off the grid" and will absolutely be planning a return trip!"
- Geri W. February 2015

"Amazing place, amazing people, amazing experience! Our family just returned from spending 7 days at Turneffe Flats. We are a family of four divers and had such an incredible trip! The dive operation was incredibly well organized and professional with whom we shared many good laughs. Both Ann Marie and John were able to show us sea life that we would never have been able to find independently, even though we are very experienced divers (instructors and DMs). We found the diving to be very educational and we were impressed at how much respect there was for the environment and the important role that divers can play in environmental stewardship (which had not been our experience in San Pedro, Belize). The owners, Karen and Craig made us feel right at home immediately and we found all the staff to be so helpful and kind. The general manager, Chad, was even able to display some pretty miraculous boat fixing techniques on our first day, which was really the only hiccup in the trip. The food was outstanding and really surprised us, especially due to the remote location of this lodge! It seems that this lodge brings together some amazing travellers as well as we had a great time with all of the families and couples, who came from so many varying backgrounds. It's clear that Turneffe Flats is a well thought out and carefully planned dream that runs smoothly and efficiently made possible by highly experienced guides and caring staff."
- Genevieve R., December 2014

"Trip of a lifetime. If you want to fish, snorkel or dive in the most beautiful location on the planet, this is it. Wonderful accommodations too - air conditioning, nice shower. Lovely staff and the food was great. Guides are knowledgeable. We're already talking about our next visit there."
- John H., October 2014

"Lives up to it's ratings! My wife and I just returned from Turneffe Flats and what a trip! Our first morning I was able to do my confined dive for part of my certification and then we went out with the rest of the group for my first open water dive. The instructor was great. Very competent and patient. I was worried that having just certified that three dives a day would be too much but I was wrong. Every day we went to different sites and each was unique and interesting. We saw tons of sea life. Reef sharks, nurse sharks, turtles, eels, groupers, permit..... and tons more. When we return everyday there is enough time to chill out for bit before heading over for happy hour and dinner. It was always great to have a beer and share our stories of the day with the other guests and staff. Dinner was always good plentiful. Not one night did I go back to the room without having eaten too much. I can't say enough good things about the staff either. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. They were helping us setup day trips in Belize City, switch around a day of scuba for fishing, and much more. Also the owners were constantly around just to talk or see how our trip was going. One of my favorite parts was that there was no tv, internet, or phone service in the rooms. It was a week of great conversation with my wife and other friends we made at the resort. We were very sad to have to leave but are already looking forward to our next visit!"
- John C., September 2014

"TRIP OF A LIFETIME - We arrived at the docks in Belize City to be wisked off to Turneffe Flats on the Miss Ellie. The trip took about 1:20 mins and the waters were wonderful. We started our stay by being introduced to the staff for a welcome coctail, then off to our rooms. We were on a dive trip of 3 dives a day and they were all better than the next. Weather was in our favor.
Denroy was our Captain of the boat and John was our Dive Master for the week. Waters were so clear and fish were every where in every color. There is an over population of the destructive LIONFISH,so we did our part in reducing as many as we could and by the way they are WONDERFUL to eat. The crew was very knowledgeable about all the fish and corals that we saw and did everything to make sure that we saw everything there was to see.
We managed to fit in a day of bone fishing on the Flats just because we were in the best bone fishing spot in the world!!! Missed catching a Permit so we have to go back next year.
Karen and Craig the owners of the resort bent over backwards to make our stay a total success. The Ladies in the Kitchen produced one great meal after another. It is a MUST DO SPOT if you dive, flyfish or just want to go to a BEAUTIFUL area so untouched. We will be back!!!"
- Tracy, October 2013

"Wow - great service, Wow- great diving, Wow - wonderful facilities. This is a wonderful full place and with excellent diving but the staff top the list of Wows... We have over 300 logged dives and this is the best best place yet. The rooms were nice, appropriately furnished for divers and very, very clean.
The staff will go way out of their way to make your stay perfect. We had a relative that was a finalist on the Voice and they put together a Danielle watch party complete with food and satellite TV. We never guessed we could watch the show in the middle of the ocean... but they made it happen.

Again, top notch staff in every category and they all seemed to love their jobs."
- Bill F., May 2013

"I hesitate writing this review because we want to keep it to ourselves! But... it's such a wonderful resort, we want to share it with everyone. We are a group of 8 scuba divers with two in our group that do not dive. We picked Turneffe Flats because they offered Snorkel packages... What a wonderful package! The snorkel guide, Abel, was the most knowledgeable marine guide we have ever encountered. We all agreed that our snorkel people saw more than the divers... and the divers saw a lot! Dive guides were experienced and fun. Dive sites were all a very short ride from the resort with the exception of 'The Blue Hole' being a whole day trip to Half Moon Caye and Lighthouse Reef. The fishing guides were very professional, with more than half the guests at the resort being advanced fly fishermen. Everything in this resort was spotless.. boats, cabanas, pool, dining room (with the finest food we have ever experienced in an 'All Inclusive' resort. The staff was amazing.. it didn't matter where you were, if you passed a staff person, they smiled and asked how you were and could they help you with anything. Happy staff means good management. Cabanas were beautiful with big chairs on each deck, air conditioning, which we only used at night. There was a breeze during the day. The boat ride from Belize City to Turneffe Flats was beautiful. We were treated like royalty the entire week. When the breeze died down, we were urged to use insect repellent, which we found was very necessary... we kept our room screen and door shut and didn't have any problems. Sun is very dangerous! Bring hats and sun screen. If we could rate this resort on a one to five... we would give it a 10! To finish off a perfect week, we had a long wait for our flights. Craig & Karen, the owners, made arrangements for us to have a tour of the Mayan Ruins at AltunHa with Guide Mark..another 10 star trip. Can't say enough praise for this operation."
- Pat & Di, February 2013

"From the very first entry into Belize the staff of Turneffe Flats made our vacation simply perfect. Greeted by a lovely driver at the airport we were treated to a bit of Belize history on the way to the pier. There we were met by Chris, one of the managers and several staff members who took our gear and settled us in as we waited for other guests before departing on a gorgeous 90 minute ride through the mangroves and across the atoll to the resort. Docked at the resort we were again treated to warm welcomes, all luggage moved to our villa and a happy hour to meet the rest of the staff and guests. The villa was well equipped, immaculately clean and very spacious. Our four person group spread out and made ourselves very comfortable. All meals are included in the price and were both delicious and varied. The staff gladly accommodated both vegetarians and vegans with no fuss. The diving was simply spectacular - trips to Blue Hole, Half Moon Key and the Elbow along with dive sites north, south, east and west of the atoll gave us incredible moments of lush beauty, creatures large and small. The dive instructors know the area, the marine life, the best sites. They are conscientious and considerate, aware of everyone but not in any way overpowering. Emi, John and Abell could not have been better tour guides for our time under water. Each day we headed out with lunch packed so we could wander far and wide before returning around 3:30-4 to relax, shower and meet up with the fishermen for happy hour.
Simply bliss. Can't say enough about the incredible beauty of the location, the hospitality of the staff and the wonders of the diving. Truly a fantastic place. Its got everything you need if you want to dive, share some time with others and also have space for yourself. If you want to go to restaurants, shop and have nightlife, choose San Pedro. For the nature lover and those seeking the solace of quiet moonlit nights this is the place to go."
- Jude K. November 2012

"This place is fantastic! We did 7 days of diving at beautiful reefs and the Blue Hole and spent a day on the mainland zip lining and cave tubing. The staff was so helpful and personable and the food was absolutely amazing!! It's the perfect getaway, I wouldn't change a single detail. Our vacation was outstanding and we can't wait to go back!!"
- Taylor M., July 2012

"The dive team were incomparable to any that we have ever had before, personalized service and willing to show you has much or as little as you want.... I can't say enough how great they were. We loved it! This resort is like being on the edge of the earth with all the needed creature comforts of home and having a week of unbelievable diving to throw in as a bonus. From the moment we were greeted at the marina to the point where we said goodbye it was truly a personal and memorable trip. The staff was professional yet fun in the same manner, the accommodations were wonderful with our cabana being 20 ft from the ocean and we loved the infinity edge pool."
 - Lisa S., July 2011

"Alex is the finest diver I've ever met. He has an outstanding knowledge of the reef, and is a great biologist. As new divers, Alex was a very calming, supportive and trustworthy guide. He knows the reefs, their inhabitants, and relays all his insight with sharp wit and humor."
 - Leif B., December 2010

"The guys we met immediately upon arrival at dock were enthusiastic and helpful (Alex and John). Hour + boatride to lodge was better than we expected and the MISS ELLIE is a superior dive boat! The guys are awesome! They are both very knowledgeable and watch out for safety. On our last night, it brought tears of joy to our eyes to see our suits and gear had been well rinsed and hanging at the Palapa almost fully dry and ready to pack! The 'valet' diving almost spoils divers TOO much... we'll forget how to assemble and carry our own gear!

Great meals make great trips and's as simple as that! And Turneffe delivers on this well beyond my expectations! The made from scratch principle is well worth the price and the boat ride to get to the island, and not having to worry about any of my meals containing gluten was the bestest of the best! The meals were nicely varied and well portioned and combined; we were pleasingly satisfied and not overstuffed every night. I would come back for the food and the service alone. AND I'd have to buy a WHOLE Coconut pie to bring home!

KEEP DOING what you're doing! Keep working to protect the reef and the Flats. Keep hiring great people (and local where possible). It was the best trip we've had in a couple years and a much needed get away. We felt like family after staying only 4 days and did NOT want to leave ...even with the rain that came almost every day, the breezes and water were perfect. The 'UN'crowded-ness was great. Craig and Karen love what they do and they love Turneffe and it shows... and that passion gets passed on to the staff, and to the visitors."

- Laura P., November 2010

"This is my 5th trip to a Caribbean destination. This is the first one that was efficient, well organized, and made me feel valued as a customer. I would recommend this resort again and again for a dive vacation. The intimacy of the resort provides a personal experience that is completed by the fabulous diving. The family style dining is a perfect way to meet new friends and takes away the typical "tourist factory" of large resorts."
 - Sherry R., November 2010

"I came to TF as new diver with 2 dives under my belt. I was not very safe or comfortable. Alex went way out of his way to make sure I was capable and could see things I otherwise would have been too preoccupied to enjoy. John also helped me tremendously. I now know my skills and can enjoy diving. This has to be the best vacation ever, as all my needs were met. The resort, the people, the accommodations, the food, the diving and sights, just everything."
 - Patti W., August 2010

"I am rather picky about vacations and I really can't think of a single thing that I could complain about except that the trip had to end. I can't wait to bring my 13 year old daughter to your resort sometime soon. She would love the entire experience. Plus she would help me a lot in the next staff soccer match."
 - John and Laura B., August 2010

"We were happy that Alex placed emphasis on safe diving and respect for the reef environment. He was a great guide, pointing out lots of different marine wildlife to us. He is also very personable and kept us entertained between dives ;-) Captains Charles and Daniel provided great surface cover, transport and assistance before, during and after the trips. Our equipment was always ready to go in the morning and properly handled."
 - Brenda K., May 2010

"An incredible place. Just gets better and better. The diving is pristine. This dive trip is the best I have ever done. A diver is absolutely spoiled rotten. The dives are fantastic and all about 55 minutes. Alex Anderson, the dive manager, is a fantastic diver and wonderful educator. The night dive is incredible. Just can't say enough."
